Hello World!
I am Jinghu Hu(胡竞湖), current Ph.D. student in Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Texas at Austin. I obtained my M.S. and B.Eng. in Tsinghua University, Beijing China. I plan to graduate in May 2023.
My research interest and focus
I believe the transportation field will go through a vast range of transformation in near future. Transportation tools will be environmentally friendly in power systems, more inter-connected and intelligent, and more sustainable in terms of manufacturing and usage.
My main research focus is on mainly on the transportation propelling system optimization and sustainable energy risk mitigation during implementation. I carry out research focusing on the vehicle powertrain system decarbonization based on experimental and simulation-based parametric studies. I also conduct studies aiming to provide low-cost vehicle energy efficiency performance simulation using Python and Rust. Another field I am currently focusing on is the battery cell thermal safety research. I carry out experimental and reduced-order modeling study to characterize the battery cell thermal runaway and propagation behavior. The research aims to understand good indicators to identify battery cell thermal runaway, and what key factors contribute to the battery cell thermal runaway propagation within modules.
My past research included the experimental and modeling research on the hydrogen-fueled vehicle leakage risk analysis. I developed a simplified high pressure hydrogen jet flow model. It helped understand the nozzle-leaked hydrogen spatial profiles with much lower computational costs.
Besides my main research focus, I have 2 years of industrial experience as a software developer engineer. I have experiences in C/C++/Python/Rust development, and have rich experience using Matlab and Simulink toolbox for the mechanical system modeling.
My hobbies
I love traveling, reading (most recently classics and sci-fis) and sports. I have always been long for beaches, blue sky and vast oceans. Besides my work, I am a long-time jogger.
